Just outside the town of George the Hyatt Regency Oubaai Resort sits on the edge of the cliff overlooking the ocean. It gives you the best of all worlds: views of the rolling green hills and the endless blue of the ocean.
Day 1: Journey to George
We’ll take the famous Route 62 through the rural towns, mountain ranges and the rugged landscape of the Klein Karoo. At Cango Wildlife we’ll stop for an encounter with cheetahs and more than 40 species of other animals. Then it’s on to the Highgate Ostrich Farm which was established more than 100 years ago. Here you’ll learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the ostrich and get the unique opportunity to even ride one! You’ll handle the enormous eggs, cuddle the chicks and just be amazed by these huge birds’ antics.
Our final destination is Hyatt Regency Oubaai Resort & Spa.
Day 2: Golf
After breakfast you’ll tee off at the Ernie Els Signature Course. As can be expected, this is a course that challenges, thrills and delights. At one point, you need a drive of 120 meters to cross a gorge. On the 17th hole, bring out your camera – this is where the green merges with the blue of the ocean and it’s one of the most photographed holes in the world of golf. There are 4 bunkers that flank the course and there’s always the breeze (and sometimes a full-on wind) from the sea to contend with. A good challenge for golfers of all abilities.
Day 3: Knysna/Plettenberg Bay
After breakfast we take a most scenic route to Knysna, a little seaside village with a unique atmosphere. Famous for its lagoon and the rocky gateway to the sea, called The Heads, Knysna is home to many artisans and artists. Just outside town is the Knysna Elephant Park. Here you’ll have the most amazing opportunity to touch, feed and photograph the gentle giants of the forest. It is a magical encounter for most people, one which you’ll remember forever. Afterwards we’ll continue to Plettenberg Bay, one of South Africa’s most popular holiday destinations, especially for the ‘glitzy set’. With its golden beaches, its lagoons and quaint small town atmosphere, Plettenberg beguiles all those who go there.
Day 4: Departure
You’ll have the morning at your leisure, before we depart for Cape Town in the afternoon.
